1. Back in the saddle again  - Captured: 13-1-2005 14:15:00
Whew!  It's been a while hasn't it? My new son was born 9/30 and I returned to work late October after infant care leave.  We're all hard at work here getting Whidbey Beta 2 ready to ship.  The holiday's hit and I spent a bunch of time on the road and on airplanes.  I'm back from vacation now and sitting in a rountable discussion with VSIP partners at the January VSIP Dev Lab here in Redmond.  Good suggestions and a lot of hard work getting partner products ready to run...

2. Hanukah and Biking Weekend  - Captured: 13-12-2004 22:55:56
Had a pretty busy weekend, Friday night was the our holiday party, which was pretty decent once my headache went away and I could enjoy the band. The Dancing Heads room was especially enjoyable. They use green screen technology to get a video of just your head and then overlay it on to a video of headless dancers keyed to a the playing of a popular song. The results are VERY amusing. Saturday I woke up and joined a cascade cycle ride for what should have been a 40 ...

3. Opera on Windows Mobile Experience  - Captured: 1-2-2005 21:03:40
I've wanted to try this for some time now, and today I found a minute and installed Opera 7.60 beta 2 on my C500. I must say its faster then IE that came with the device, and it does have some features I do want (full screen viewing, fast scrolling, a page load status bar, full HTML rendering of any page). Well done Opera, I would pay for this! And I've noted something else when I proceded to the download page: While everyother phone vendor was listed s...

Martin Luther King Jr. Day has a special place in my heart. My first Web site for The Seattle Times was a site we built in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.   I worked with editor Bill Ristow, who, like many who work with me, stared at me as though I were a maniac. :)  And I was.  We did this site because Frank Blethen, publisher of the paper, has always felt strongly about educating the public about Dr. Martin Luther, Jr. and about supporting the holid...

5. Turn of the tide  - Captured: 30-12-2004 10:54:00
So 2004 winds to a close. The devastation in Indonesia and Thailand beggars description (despite all the news commentators, who still find ways to talk about something that just leaves me speechless). Advances and retreats in medicine are announced every day. I'm trying to do one of those "sum up" blog posts and I really can't. Microsoft's pace (up until the beauty of the holiday weeks, when no one is here) has been such that it's been hard to remember what I did the week before, never mind 52 w...

6. Some holiday cheer for Steve and company in Iraq  - Captured: 3-12-2004 18:31:00
I thought our care package might never make it, but earlier this week our big box of XBOX stuff arrived in Iraq for Steve Smith and his platoon.  Check out pictures and info here: http://armyadvice.org/armysteve/archive/2004/11/22/932.aspx?Pending=true

7. George Soros...leftist billionaire commie hater whos destroying America...one 527 at a time.  - Captured: 1-2-2005 6:50:21
George Soros is a Billionaire investment capitalist who came to the attention of millions of Americans for the first time with his 527 organization MoveOn.Org.  From where I’m sitting, George seems like kind of a nut-job and an egomaniac…but then anyone who comes up with his own civil philosophy, and then spends billions of dollars promoting it around the world would have to be…wouldn’t he?  And frankly, he’s the egomaniacal nu...

21. What is Monday?  - Captured: 19-1-2005 11:06:00
I made mention on Channel9 that I'll have more free time come Monday (http://channel9.msdn.com/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=35544#35544). This lead some to think that Beta 2 would be done and I could move on to RTM. Ha! I wish. When you get closer and closer to shipping a product, you need to start looking at your bugs and saying: "Is this worth slipping my release?" and "How much instability will this cause vs. the potential gain for the customer?" This kind of cost vs. benefit analysis has been going ...

22. A Weekend At Sigiriya  - Captured: 8-2-2005 12:58:00
Continuing on from my previous post, Looking Forward To A Long Weekend At Sigiriya... A fairly eventful weekend. We drove from Wathupiiwala up to Kurunegala on Thursday evening. The journey takes me just less than 2 hours by car. We stayed overnight at Kurunegala with our friends Dylan & Sheila and their guest Tait before  driving up to Sigiriya on Friday morning, stopping off at a craft village a few Km before Sigiriya. The journey took about 2.5 hours. We were booked into the Sigiriy...

23. Personal Log - Saturday 29th January  - Captured: 29-1-2005 13:21:00
Almost wanted to say Captain's Log in the title of the post but managed to contain the Trekkie in me ;-) I've spent all day on the computer :) Performed some mundane tasks like tidying up my email address book, chasing up the other vbCity Leaders via email to ask for the final votes for January's .NET Fella award to be cast, adding another category to my blog site (Work) and progressing a few more blog posts that are still not ready to get posted, reading up on all (well OK almost all) the RSS ...

24. MZ Tools v4.0 For VS 2002 & 2003 Review  - Captured: 26-1-2005 16:40:00
Introduction MZ Tools is a Visual Studio (VS) add-in that enhances productivity. It does this by offering a number of enhancements to the VS IDE. MZ Tools comes in two flavours, Personal & Enterprise editions. Personal edition costs around $40 and Enterprise around $400. For this review I used the Personal edition (v4) as Carlos has very kindly made this available to fellow MVPs free of charge. Although MZ Tools supports both VS 2002 & 2003 and both VB.NET & C# I tested MZTools in VS 2003, main...

"Why google made this worse update? One of my unlucky site (be cloned, be 302 hijacked... since May 2004) is played by this update again@_@. When I search my domain name (without www. and .tld), my site goes nowhere, but www.domain.tld.1bu.net is on page 2 of the serp. My site was just back at Dec update and now it goes on holiday again. Acording to Al-Jazeera, Microsoft sent a spy to google
