2. Podcast (Kind of...) #3  - Captured: 23-2-2005 16:31:21
So having said last week that I was pretty much done with the podcasting stuff, here I am, back with what I guess is Podcast #3. But, this one is a bit different. After listening recently to an NPR audio-essay on Brian Eno I thought "now there's an application for Podcasts" or something close to that. See, to me the power in this has always been about the audience, the ability to distribute the creation to people in the hopes they'll listen. The Eno essayist had NPR. We, thanks to Podcasting, h...

Blogging and the podCasting concept will be the final nails in the coffin of traditional online marketing. Interestingly enough, the chief marketer of McDonald's is spreading the news in general terms: "In today's atomized marketing world ... mass marketing mass messages to masses of people via mass media is a mass mistake". Welcome to the podomized world.

4. Grease Lightning and 70s shows  - Captured: 3-2-2005 7:55:30
Yesterday I saw the TV showing ???Grease???, well this is a classic show to me. It depicts what is ???Cool??? about, of course without forgetting the ???Curry Puff??? hair styles, the leather jacket, the thunder bird and etc. I did not finish the show; I close the TV after John Travolta or ???Danny Zuko??? in the movie sang the song Sandy. That brings back some memories. I was in my early teens when I saw it in the cinema and of course after that I always dream of being ???Danny Zuko???, the co...

6. Art Workshops in the US  - Captured: 15-3-2005 4:23:51
Wow, check out this big retreat in the US. Called Art and Soul, it's very, well arty and souly. But some of those classes they run would have the most die-hard scrapbooker drooling. There are full day classes, and several that run over more than a day. Even the smaller classes are at least 3 hours long. This is shown by the pricings also - $70 for a 3 hour class, plus $15 for materials, as one example. However, some of those classes make my mouth water - My selection, should I win a lotto tic...

7. Currently listening to... Beck - Guero  - Captured: 19-3-2005 3:28:39
Beck is the man. He always has been with his songs that defy categorization. He sort of lost his way with his last album but then again he was just exorcising a particular chapter of his life, which is not to say I didn't enjoy the introspective ballads of "Sea Change". I simply missed the quirky troubadour of old. All is forgiven with the advent of Guero. This album rocks! From the first track he kicks off with a na-na-na rock hit that just totally does it for me. He sounds like Elliot Smith...

Wowee. Ever since I used a blogging package to handle all the fancy blogging features for me (RSS feeds, comments, auto-archiving, stats, etc.) I have come to the realization that if a medium can be spammed, it will be spammed. It's really disgusting the stuff I have to block from my blog every 2-3 days. The stats on the right-hand side (top referers, recent referers) are auto-generated. When someone visits my site by clicking on a link from Google, then Google will become a recent referer...

This is pretty hot mash-up album from last year that managed to slip under my radar. It features mash-ups of electronic tunes with hip-hop/soul/pop. I especially like the DJ Shadow vs. Chemical Brothers track and the Ludacris mash-up.

14. Would You Eat A Chocolate Electric Chair?  - Captured: 3-4-2005 7:35:23

Yech! No of course you wouldn't. I think it's safe to say that for the average person the thought of eating an execution device is...well...creepy at best.

So, what if a religious leader (mmm, let's say Jesus) had died on an electric chair? Would that make it more palatable? Would you then want to put a chocolate electric chair in your child's Easter basket next to the jelly beans and Peeps?

If you recoiled in disgust you're not alone. I had a the same reaction when I start...

You would think that with now having 280 million books in print, that uber-romance author Nora Roberts wouldn't have time to blog about her vacations. But she does. She has a full trip diary with photos, recounting her and her husband's August, 2004 trip to the Emerald Isles. And yes, she blogs just as well as she does everything else. Her latest book (writing as J.D. Robb) is Survivor in Death (Putnam), the newest entry in the futuristic/noir police procedural series which follows the exploits ...

16. Sex, desire and taboos in Hindu Indian thought  - Captured: 4-4-2005 20:23:00
A lot of people know about the Kamasutra, but very few have read it carefully, and this includes Indians. Most people look at its illustrations, or flip through only the chapter on 'congress'. But this is doing a great injustice to the treatise. For instance, hardly anybody knows that the KS opens with a chapter which has nothing to do with sex, but is a philosophical discourse on the validity of desire in a balanced life. What is equally remarkable is the emphasis on the need not merely to be a...

NIN - With Teeth
It seems that Trent has adopted a pop sensibility on tracks like 'Every Day is Exactly The Same'. The rest of the album seems like a mix of equal parts Broken, Downward Spiral, and The Fragile, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's a new spin on his old formula. Links are at regnyouth.
