Decent weekend, Friday night was dinner at Mediterranean Kitchen and some shopping at the Bon. Saturday we went to Keshav and Kerrie's pre-Christmas party. This morning it was -47 F. Now it is -1 F. Either one is just plain cold.
Of course this morning we were about 14 miles south of the Canadian border near Lake of the Woods, and now we are back home in the Twin Cities. I very much doubt it got to -47 F down here in the balmy south-country of Minnesota :-)
This has been one of the strangest winters in a long time. We still have virtually no snow here in the Twin Cities. You have to drive at least an hour north to get real snow. That's nuts! ...

Lord of the Rings ranks as one of our favorite family games, and is the game responsible

We invited the Humphrey and Rude families out to Salishan for an extended weekend
of fun and games. This was our first test of the house for a large group of guests,
and it went extremely well. We had a total of 13 people staying at the house
and pretty much everyone was able to sleep on a bed in relative privacy (with their
own family). Jacob and Matthew camped out on the floor in the master bedroom

In general I liked it, although I still wish Peter Jackson would have included some sort of destruction of the Shire, and melded some amount of the cleanup on behalf of Merry, Pippin and Sam. So I did manage to get the last 40 GB iPod in New Jersey right after Christmas and I've been starting to play with it in between family gatherings and big meals. Let me first say that I am very psyched about the Belkin microphone adapter I got which allows me to use the iPod as a recording device. I've been interviewing my kids, and I can see all sorts of ways to use just that piece of it in the classroom...recording classwork, oral histories, interviews for MovieMaker voice overs.
