| 3. | | The Hot Startup Thats Really An Amazon.com Marketing Ploy? - Captured: 9-2-2005 19:19:14 There have been a lot of little "hot" startups or online projects lately that have a ton of buzz. Offerings like Flickr, del.icio.us, Furl, Bloglines and others seem to be what everyone has been talking about. In cases like Bloglines and Furl, the companies have quickly been snapped up by larger players, and there are plenty of rumors about others (such as the popular rumor that Flickr is being acquired by Yahoo). However, one of these offerings that has been getting some attention lately is ... From: Techdirt |

| 4. | | Folksonomizer: generic folksonomy service - Captured: 10-2-2005 20:27:54
Just read a post on Paolo Massa's Blog, where he requests to add a Flickr/ del.icio.us/ Technorati style of tagging to Webjay music playlists. In hip speak this practice is called a "folksonomy".
Folksonomy is a neologism for a practice of collaborative categorization using simple tags. This feature has begun appearing in a variety of social software. At present, the best examples of online folksonomies are social bookmarking sites like del.icio.us, a bookmark sharing site, Flickr, fo... From: blog.forret.com |

| 5. | | Read What I Read (Cont) - Captured: 10-2-2005 22:18:38 A really great article over at Salon (Furl it!) that talks about this whole reading what others read concept and the Web of connections that is being born. Here's a great quote from Howard Rheingold that I think pretty much sums up the concept:
"I look to see who the other people are on del.icio.us who tag the same things that I think are important. Then, I can look and see what else they've tagged ... And isn't that part of the collective intelligence of the Web? You meet people who find thing... From: Weblogg-ed |

| 6. | | Bermuda Blogging - Captured: 10-2-2005 22:18:38 So I haven't been able to get online for a couple of days, but frankly, I'm not minding all that much. We're in Bermuda where tomorrow I'll be doing some blogvangelism at the Whitney Institute Middle School in Smith's Parish. God save the Queen. Whitney's principal Freddie Evans is doing great things with integrating technology at his school, and his teachers are really enthusiastic about what they can do with it. I'm looking forward to showing them the ways in which blogs and wikis and the rest... From: Weblogg-ed |

| 7. | | Edublogvangelism Goes Global (?) - Captured: 10-2-2005 22:18:39 This week starts a pretty busy couple of months of blogvangelism that should be both fun and interesting. It starts tomorrow with an online session with Webheads from around the world over at Learning Times. I?ll be webcasting about RSS and how it can be used in the classroom, and I?m really looking forward to interacting with a global audience. Then on Friday, it?s off to Bermuda to do a workshop on the Read/Write Web at the Whitney School in Hamilton. (I?m hoping I?ll get a chance to post some... From: Weblogg-ed |

| 8. | | Still More Edu Blogs (and Wikis) to Check Out - Captured: 10-2-2005 22:18:40 It's been a long week. Way too much thinking. I'm tired. So instead of holding forth on some convoluted idea in my brain, here instead is a list of some edu-blogs I've Furled of late.

| 9. | | Passion for Learning - Captured: 10-2-2005 22:18:40 More about learning about your passion to gain a passion for learning...
Found this really great post (via Robert Patterson) at a new blog called Creating Passionate Users that just struck every chord in my brain regarding what's wrong with classroom instruction:
The best learning occurs in a stimulating, active, challenging, interesting, engaging environment. It's how the brain works. The best learning occurs when you move at least some part of your body. The best learning occurs when you're... From: Weblogg-ed |

| 10. | | The Potential of Social Softwares - Captured: 10-2-2005 22:18:41 Sometimes it takes me a little while to get my brain wrapped around all these new ideas, and the one I've been struggling with a bit lately is the concept of tagging and folksonomies and the like. I love that f-word, the idea that we can create our own taxonomies for the information we find relevant. We're creating our own personal libraries with our own personal filing systems. I can tag Flickr posts and del.icio.us links not only to give them relevance for me but to associate them with what ot... From: Weblogg-ed |

| 12. | | Recent Enhancements and The Long View - Captured: 11-2-2005 22:57:23 We have an exciting new service for publishers and some enhancements for a couple of our most popular services. I'd also like to tie these new features to "the long view" of how we see the world of syndication evolving, and the role that FeedBurner will play in this fast-growing space.
Introducing FeedCount™
The new service that is now open to all publishers is FeedCount. This is a customizable chicklet that shows the current number of subscribers your feed reaches. I... From: Burning Questions - The FeedBurner Weblog |

| 13. | | When the Blogvangelist Gets Boring - Captured: 12-2-2005 13:47:42 So what happens when someone in a presentation you're doing blogs it as it happens and you find it later through your standing search on Technorati which you set up for the very reason that you can find out what people are writing about you and your ideas?
Speaker insists that the ?founding fathers? would love it if they could see a world in which everyone participated and contributed. He may know his blogs but he don't know history. The founding fathers were upper-class elitists who didn't eve... From: Weblogg-ed |

| 15. | | Tags rock! - Captured: 14-2-2005 19:51:30 Niet alleen Michel is zoekende (voor Nucleus), ook Bakkel heeft het licht gezien, maar dan voor Pivot:
Tags are really gonna be the next big thing I think. You post an article with some tags, and your readers (and yourself offcourse) can surf these tags with flickr, technorati and other webaplications. I saw that ‘Tagsurfing’ is really kicking off.
I have seen several posting on this forum for implementing these tags, but can there be a snippet that ads these tags and by clicking ... From: Weblog Zonder Haast |

From: Weblog Zonder Haast |

From: Weblog Zonder Haast |

From: Weblog Zonder Haast |

| 19. | | Self Esteem: Overhyped Myth - Captured: 17-2-2005 7:42:24 It's funny, but my good reformed blogging friend, Josiah Ritchie beat me to the punch. I had just listened to a debate between Robert Schuller and Michael Horton on one of my favorite radio programs: the White Horse Inn.
Josiah has an excellent post that highlights what I was going to say. Modern culture has an unhealthy obsession with self esteem. Telling each of us how great we are and how special we are when the truth is--we're all unworthy sinners who desperately need a savior. What h... From: Paultastic Musings |

| 20. | | Blogging Teachers - Captured: 18-2-2005 18:52:50 One thing I seem to be noticing more and more of is teachers who are blogging about their working lives. | 21. | | Memeorandum and Newsmap and... - Captured: 23-2-2005 16:31:18 In the never ending search for more mixes and matches of blogs, RSS and "real" news come two pretty creative (I think) entries to the tool box in Memeorandum and Newsmap.
Let me just say that Memeorandum, which takes ral headlines and displays them above blogger reactions, is especially interesting to me as it's the first step down the road of bringing blogs and old media together in the "newfangled news tangle" format. I like having the news next to the views; I only wish there was some way th... From: Weblogg-ed |

| 24. | | Furlblogging - Captured: 24-2-2005 0:34:11 Ok, so this isn't revolutionary, but it's kind of a neat application of Furl that I really hadn't thought of. (One of those "Doh!" moments.)
The journalism 2 kids here have their own blogs and Bloglines and Furl accounts. As they write their stories, they're Furling all of the relevant pages they find. So, on each of their sites, we're pulling the RSS feed from their Furl archive into the right hand column, so anytime someone Furls something, it automatically shows up on the page. No biggie, I ...
