| 1. | | Hanukah and Biking Weekend - Captured: 13-12-2004 22:55:56
Had a pretty busy weekend, Friday night was the our holiday party, which was pretty
decent once my headache went away and I could enjoy the band. The Dancing Heads room
was especially enjoyable. They use green screen technology to get a video of just
your head and then overlay it on to a video of headless dancers keyed to a the playing
of a popular song. The results are VERY amusing.
Saturday I woke up and joined a cascade cycle ride for what should have been a 40

| 2. | | From VAX to Windows - Captured: 19-1-2005 17:29:50
When I first got involved with Microsoft
it was around 1990 or ’91. The world of the time was dominated by IBM, with
DEC a close second. If you wanted to network PCs you used Novell or Banyan. All PC
programs were DOS programs. “Windows” was just one of many graphical libraries
being used by software to handle drawing on the screen. And if you wanted to do real
work you used a mainframe or minicomputer.

Girl’s night out last night. I
went out with my friends Sue and Denise. I
was DD. We
went to O’Donovan’s Pub in

. This is where we go to watch rugby. When
there is no rugby, we drink. Guiness. No
cute guys were around for the single chicks in the group to flirt with. For
some reason, someone threw a quarter at us as we were getting up to leave the table. Freaks.&... From: Anomalous Data |

"The code is too messy, it needs to be rewritten"
How many of us have heard of (or said) the above statement? It is the typical statement given by most developers when assigned to maintain a piece of code developed by other developers who probably had left the company and in no way contactable (Or even if they are contactable, they will most likely have forgotten what they wrote).
Most managers find it difficult to understand why code needs to be rewit... From: Firedancer.Unleashed! |

| 18. | | Overtaking An Elephant - Captured: 8-2-2005 12:59:00 Usually a driver takes me into work but over the weekend the company I work for had let me have one of the company cars so I could go up to Sigiriya. This meant I had the luxury of driving myself in. I had a meeting at our Katunayake factory in the morning and then I had to drive to our Wathupitiwala factory in the afternoon. And it was during this latter drive that I got to overtake an elephant, whilst I was driving, for the first time :-D Seemed a bit bizarre when I did it and I couldn't resis... | 19. | | A Weekend At Sigiriya - Captured: 8-2-2005 12:58:00 Continuing on from my previous post, Looking Forward To A Long Weekend At Sigiriya...
A fairly eventful weekend. We drove from Wathupiiwala up to Kurunegala on Thursday evening. The journey takes me just less than 2 hours by car. We stayed overnight at Kurunegala with our friends Dylan & Sheila and their guest Tait before driving up to Sigiriya on Friday morning, stopping off at a craft village a few Km before Sigiriya. The journey took about 2.5 hours. We were booked into the Sigiriy... From: VB & .NET Blogs @ vbCity.com |

| 20. | | Looking Forward To A Long Weekend At Sigiriya - Captured: 3-2-2005 12:32:00 Friday 4th February 2005 is National Day here in Sri Lanka where the country celebrates its independance, in 1948, form the UK. As our factory, along with most of Sri Lanka businssses I believe, closes down I have decided (well my wife has actually - but I heartily concur) that we will take a long weekend and head off into the interior of Sri Lanka. I have managed to obtain one of the company pool cars for the duration and so the world is our lobster pot :)

| 21. | | The funniest thing happened today on Argos car park ... - Captured: 31-1-2005 23:17:00 ... I came out of Argos (shop) and got into my car. I reversed out of the space and was about to pull off when a car coming the opposite way pulled over to the wrong side of the road in front and stopped to let the passenger out. It was a fairly old couple (50's) and my wife and I had a little chuckle about it while the woman got out of the car, opening her door into the other side of the road (there were no cars coming). Anyway, the old chap driving didn't seem too pleased bec... From: VB & .NET Blogs @ vbCity.com |

First score of 77 was a complete embarrassment. Nearly every ball pulled to the left. Even when I realised this and compensated it made no difference. I think the problem might have been the people in the left hand lane but more of that at the end of the post. Anyway suffice to say by the end of this game I was down to 15Kmph in a vain attempt to control vaguely where the ball was going :(

| 23. | | A wonderful week - Captured: 23-1-2005 16:16:00 Ah what a wonderful week this was. It started off being lovely on Tuesday. After having a great Physical Education lesson (squash :D), I should've got a Chemistry course which I don't really like. It turned out the teacher was absent. Hooray! Only thing that could spoil my day was the basketball training I had to go to. I love basketball, but our coach is a real ass sometimes. Turns out our coach wasn't there. Hooray! | 24. | | The cell phone saga - Captured: 22-1-2005 5:23:32
I have a Motorola V600 cell phone.
It is a Java-based phone. You’d think I’d have a Windows-powered phone,
but there wasn’t one in the agreement with our cell provider at work, so there
you go – no Windows.
That’s OK, I know people with
Windows phones and they lock up from time to time. Of course I figured (from all the
noise in Java-land) that my V600 would work great. Ha!
