What is FeedGarage?

As you may know most of the time webfeeds contain only items of more recent date. So it will not be possible to catch up with older content from a webfeed you are interested in.

FeedGarage however facilitates you to search for older webfeed content, because it is an archive that contains and serves webfeeds, together with their meta information and webfeed content that was captured and indexed by Feeds4all in the past.

On a regular basis older webfeedcontent is archived from Feeds4all and placed here on FeedGarage.

N.B. FeedGarage supports webfeeds that comply to RSS 0.9, RSS 1.0 and RSS 2.0 (RSS Really Simple Syndication), ATOM and RDF, because Feeds4all does so.

What is a webfeed?

A webfeed is an easy way for you to keep updated automatically on websites you like. Instead of you having to go to websites to see if they have written a new article or feature, you can use the webfeed they provide to get them to tell you every time they have something new.

How can I make use of webfeeds?

Online readers:

You can use a online webfeed reader service like Bloglines or any other.
Use Google to find this or other similar services.

Newsreader software running on your computer:

In general you need to get hold of a program called a News Reader. This displays webfeed information from your chosen websites on your computer.
Use Google to find and download a popular reader that suits your computer.

All you have to do is copy the URL (the internet or intranet address) of the particular webfeed into your reader service or local reader.
N.B. The webfeed URL can be recognized by the orange button labeled with XML, RSS, ATOM or Feedburner

You then need to follow the instructions for your particular News Reader in order to add this XML feed to your RSS list.

Problems with recognition of diacritical characters are solved! Up till february 4th, 2006 the diacritical characters were captured, however replaced by one or more questionmarks ('?'). Beware of this when searching for certain words in items before the date mentioned.
