Profits at Canada's commercial private radio stations declined in 2004.
But blame the French.
The CRTC (Canada's broadcast regulator) says overall earnings were
$224.1 million last year across all 544 of Canada's private stations. It
was $227.0 million in 2003.
The vast majority of declines came from profit loss in French
stations. They were down 19.3%! English-language station profits were
actually up 0.6%.
(And may I just say how much I love Fido and Blogware? I am blogging
this on my Fido Hiptop -- marketed as Sidekick II in the U.S. -- and
sending it to my Blogware-powered site from the backseat of a cab!)
